Today is My Favorite Day

I’m writing about death again because it seems to be a squeamish subject for many, let this squeamishness work for you, what is your fear?

How do you feel when I say we’re not eternal?  Some may be relieved, I mean seriously how long is eternity?  Others may feel fear.    Explore whatever you’re feeling, contemplate how death makes you feel.  Let me tell you a secret, we’re aren’t eternal because we aren’t even the same from moment to moment.  Each day is a new day, a new you, let everyday be your favorite day.

The baby that was you is gone forever, the teenager you were that knew everything has come and gone, the you that you think you are right now will come and go, maybe tomorrow, maybe next year, and if you look back you think that’s a whole different person, and it’s not so scary anymore to let go, let go of who you think you are, be completely born anew in this life don’t wait for death to come, be born into life where change is the constant, no beginning, no middle, no end, just change, just flow.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ~ The Gospel of John

We go on hanging on to the idea of ego, thinking this is who we are, the connection between the baby and who we are today, but it’s really only an idea that keeps us shackled, keeps us from the complete transformation that is our destiny.

When one makes the sudden leap from the unchangeable ignorance of ego to ever-changing enlightenment of emptiness one falls fleetingly into the gap of non-existence, into the mystery that is potential in its purest form, and you’re born completely new, nothing of the old remains.   Papaji said we’re the gap between going and coming and I agree, once we’re born this way, we no longer fear the coming and going.

In a sense reincarnation is an effect of the illusion of ego, the illusion of ego keeps us shackled to the wheel of karma, like a stuck record we get caught in a groove and think that is the whole song, we keep being reborn into the same groove, over and over and over again, we never hear the whole song.   Once born anew reincarnation is seen as nothing more than a bad dream, because there is simply nothing, absolutely nothing left to hang on to, each day is a new song, today is my favorite day.
